Frieda is located in the historic village of Maybach, about 15 minutes by car from Saarbrücken and close to Friedrichsthal, on the A 623 and A 8. Due to its central, well-connected location, Frieda is ideally suited for exploring the region and making excursions.
Our guests love the accommodation because of the historical ambience, paired with modern, comfortable equipment. The apartment offers a pleasant mix of antiques, Scandinavian design and modern elements, which together form a harmonious unit in which you will quickly feel at home. Frieda is ideally suited for couples (a baby is welcome), single adventurers and business travelers. You can expect a complete apartment at Frieda with ultra-comfortable double bed in the spacious bedroom. The cozy living room has an integrated, open, fully equipped kitchen where you can cook to your heart's desire. A small hallway with wardrobe and a modern shower room complete the chic apartment.

Centrally located in the Saarland and close to Saarbrücken
"Frieda" is located quite close to the motorway junction Friedrichthal on the A8/A623, but our guests will not notice much of the traffic. The house is located in the historically protected district of Friedrichsthal and has a rather village-like character. Unfortunately, there are no stores for daily needs within walking distance. By car, however, it is only three to five minutes and you have either in Quierschied, Bildstock, Friedrichsthal or Sulzbach, what you need: from butcher and bakery to supermarket (EDEKA, REWE) to discount stores (Lidl and Aldi). Also fuel stations, pharmacies and medical help are reachable in a few minutes.
In the apartment there is a current folder, which informs you about the most important shopping possibilities, places of interest as well as medical help.
The historical village Maybach invites you to an entertaining walk, which impressively shows the former mining village with its historical buildings such as the general management, machine halls, coffee kitchen, dormitory, church, official and workers' houses as well as the old school. And if you want to let your soul dangle, the neighboring forest, the Saufangweiher or the Itzenplitzer Weiher offer wonderful opportunities to do so.
From Maybach you can make excellent excursions and tours in the region or to the neighboring Luxembourg or France. Here are a few representative destinations: Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau, the Roman city of Trier, the financial center of Luxembourg, in France the southern-looking city of Metz and the Art Nouveau city of Nancy with its fantastic Place Stanislas, the medieval castle Eltz, the wine region on the upper Saar towards Perl and Nennig, and and and ...
Surely travelers to the Saarland will want to visit Saarbrücken. Saarbrücken Castle with its nearby museums, as well as downtown Saarbrücken with its beautiful St. Johanner Markt and its numerous pubs, restaurants and bars is about 15 minutes away by car. Here you will also find the Saarland State Theater, several galleries, the city hall as well as the Moderne Galerie, which offers contemporary art and interesting exhibitions.
For the friends of water and wellness the family bath Calypso offers a nice break. From Frieda it is only 20 minutes by car and you dive into a world of relaxation and well-being.
"Zum Adler" - Saarbrücken's oldest restaurant - is our tip for guests who prefer original Saarland-Alsatian cuisine. In an unexcited, charming ambience, it is nice to dine here and spend a few pleasant moments. The clientele is relaxed, liberal, and appreciates a good Chablis rather than fancy chichi. But you can also enjoy culinary delights in the immediate area of Frieda: the "Waldhorn" in Bildstock, "Da Nico" in Quierschied or the "Athena" in Spiesen-Elversberg are each only 5 minutes away by car. After a rich and delicious meal, you can then end the day in the apartment and regain energy for an eventful and exciting new day.
Maybach – in the middle of Europe and in the middle of life
Friedrichsthal with its district Maybach can be reached by all common means of transportation, whether by car, bus, train or plane. The most flexible way to travel in our region is certainly by car. Frieda itself offers a parking lot belonging exclusively to the apartment, which is located directly to the left of the house.
Saarbrücken airport is a smaller, regional airport that can be reached in about 25 minutes from the apartment by car or cab, but Luxembourg airport is also within reach and only about 1 hour away.
Friedrichsthal is well connected to the German rail network and is also on the Saarbrücken-Mannheim line; from here it takes about 20 minutes to get to Saarbrücken and then only 1:50 h by TGV to Paris. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to Quierschied train station and 5 minutes by car to Friedrichsthal train station.
The bus network is almost non-existent in Maybach and there are only a few buses that stop at local destinations.
If you want to travel by bike in our region, you will have hardly any difficulties, because the road network has been made more bike-friendly in the past and is well developed. The apartment Frieda offers a ground-level, lockable and safe storage facility for guests who want to arrive with bicycles.
For friends of e-scooters, our region unfortunately does not yet provide an offer.
